Wellington Bullings, Crumble Review
Wellington Bullings is a Jamaican beauty that is a multi-talented artist. While studying at Berklee College Of Music, she also started exploring the world of modeling. She has been featured in multiple commercials, including Olay Skincare, Secret Deodorant, and Crocs Footwear. Since leaving Berklee, she has been writing and performing, both for herself and others. Her music has been placed in Film and TV. Bullings teaches full time as a vocal instructor at several music schools in Denver, where she is based. Her singing style is a cross of pop, soul, and R&B with the influence of jazz. Her self-produced album, Because I Want To, contains seven original songs, and has a release date of July 16, 2020. She released the title track as a single in April of this year and is now releasing the second single titled, “Crumble.” Bullings expresses, “As an artist, my mission is to communicate how I see the world through the lens of my art. I create because it is vital to my well-being…because it is my favorite form of communication…because I want to.”Positives: “Crumble” is filled with sultry, soulful singing with solid lyrics, vocal harmonies, and songwriting. It talks about the importance of breaking down walls and barriers between others and ourselves. Bullings explains, “In order to discover true connection, we have to be honest about how we feel. The truth always comes to the surface, and eventually, the lies we tell ourselves and others have to crumble away.” The harmony and melody have an evident jazz influence. Bullings’ singing is soulful and combines R&B with jazz in a manner that is sophisticated and will appeal to a broad audience. The song form has multiple sections, and Bulling’s vocal harmonies are a big part of the track’s sound. The band is supportive, and the mix is balanced.
