Thankfully many long-term friendships are formed in college, and many famous rock bands in one form or another met in a school setting. Vern Matz is such a group, formed by a group of eager Yale students ready to blur the lines of alternative rock with a singer-songwriter sensibility that is ignited by memorable tunes. The bandmates met at a college party and instantly connected over their mutual admiration for Radiohead. The group consists of Danny Belgrad (lead vocals, guitar); Noah Silvestry (drums); Michael Lituchy (piano, backing vocals). A heartfelt style of songwriting with venerable musicianship that some have likened to groups such as Wilco or The National, certainly that is not a far stretch as their latest single, “Systematically Gone,” is produced by Peter Katis (The National). Autumn is filling the air and Vern Matz new single is a must add to your personal playlist. That’s the short of It!
