Lord Huron, Mine Forever Review
Lord Huron is a Los Angeles-based indie-folk band that first made a name for themselves with their debut album Lonesome Dreams and shortly after Strange Tales, which featured the triple-platinum single “The Night We Met.” In 2018, Lord Huron earned widespread critical acclaim with their first Top 5 debut on the Billboard Top 2—with their third album, Vide Noir. A cinematic collection of pensive provocative, and powerful rock, the record garnered praise from NPR, Time, Los Angeles Times, Spin, Stereogum, Refinery29, UPROXX, and more as singles such as “Wait by the River” (which the band performed on “Late Night with Seth Meyers”) and “When the Night is Over” generated tens of millions of streams. The band’s extensive touring includes headline shows at some of the most storied venues in the country (including the Hollywood Bowl, Red Rocks, and the Ryman Auditorium) and prime slots at festivals ranging from Coachella to Lollapalooza to Bonnaroo. The band is Ben Schneider – guitar, vocals, harmonica; Mark Barry – drums, percussion, vocals; Miguel Briseño – bass, keys, percussion, theremin; Tom Renaud – guitar, vocals. In December of 2020, Lord Huron started a series of live-streamed shows titled Alive From Whispering Pines, and now Lord Huron have begun to unwind the little riddle they’ve been spinning over the past few months by announcing their fourth full-length album, LONG LOST, out May 21st via Whispering Pines Studios Inc./Republic Records. Lord Huron is now releasing their second single from the upcoming album titled “MINE FOREVER.”
Bottom Line: “Mine Forever” opens with a Western vibe with added lyricless vocals for color. Lord Huron did a secret world premiere of “Mine Forever” on Alive From Whispering Pines, which was well-received by the fans. The electric guitar sounds have the authentic Western sound, and the supportive acoustic guitars keep the midrange full with their relaxed strumming murmurs. The vocal lead and harmony vocals are well-placed in the mix and capture the Western skyline’s vast space. The added female vocals and vocal counterpoint during the bridge is a solid color change and adds interest. The vocal break-down leads to the soaring string sounds and haunting backing vocals. The result, “Mine Forever,” has a classic Western vibe that abounds with all the hallmarks of great songwriting, singing, and production. That’s the short of it!Connect with Lord Huron: Website |
