Bob Mundy is a Native New Yorker, born in Queens and raised on Long Island. A self-trained singer who has been at it since day one. Mundy explains, “I was the kind of kid who could imitate anything I heard, and I heard it all from classical to Top 40, but I really loved good singing. I remember when I would go to my Grandparent’s house on Sundays, My Aunt would have her music on in the back of the house and I would sit on the floor outside her room and listen to Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams and Streisand to name a few. I’ve always joked that Barbara Streisand taught me how to sing!” Mundy additionally studyed piano at the age of five and wound up going all the way through music school, earning a BA in Piano Performance and a BS in Music Therapy from the State University of New York at Fredonia. Mundy never fashioned himself a vocalist, he thought his destiny was certainly piano. In his mid-twenties he was playing piano for a variety show and was asked to step away from the piano and sing one number. Thankfully for us this was the moment the singing bug bit Mundy and we are all better for it as you can hear throughout his new album, Love to Me! That’s the short of it!

With seductive and alluring vocal tones, and a range that could knock Whitney for a loop in her glory days, Mundy offers the listener an experience like no other. His softer whisper tones ignite, and his powerfully wielding full-bodied voice can barrel the rafters at will, but most impressive is his highest notes that offer pure, perfect, and crystalline resonance. A proof in the pudding moment is on the tune “Until,” as he hits whistle tones on the outro notes with sheer prowess. Don’t get me wrong, the beauty in Mundy’s voice is not just in the highest notes, it’s his abandon in any range he desires to utilize, in an age of histrionic vocalists, Mundy is a breath of effervescence, this man is truly a masterful vocalist, and one I hope to hear many more albums from.
A powerfully engaging vocalist with ability to spare, what most vocalists only dream of having in their instrument. Mundy credits Streisand as his osmosis mentor, well Padawan Mundy – you not only learned your lessons well, but you have taken those lessons to new heights of supreme transcendence. To say I am blown away, would be an understatement of the highest order.
