Maddie & Tae, Through The Madness Vol. 1. Review

Maddie & Tae hit the country music scene with their PLATINUM-certified Dot Records album Start Here. They both penned each of the eleven tracks, with songs hitting the Country radio charts. Maddie & Tae are only the third female duo to peak their debut single at #1 in the Billboard Country singles chart history. The success also carried over to their gender-flipping video, which garnered over 38 million views and scored the duo their first-ever award: CMA Video of the Year. Hailing from Texas and Oklahoma, respectively, the duet has earned a Radio Disney Music Awards, winning both Favorite Country Artist and Favorite Country Song for GOLD-certified “Fly.” They have previously been nominated for ACM, CMT, and CMA Awards. In addition, Maddie & Tae have appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, TODAY, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Live! with Kelly and Michael, and The Talk. Through The Madness Vol. 1. is the Award-winning country duo of Maddie & Tae sharing eight new songs filled with their unbreakable bond, honest songwriting, and signature vocal harmonies. The album includes their recent single, “Woman You Got.” Maddie & Tae co-penned each of the eight songs as they tuned into their inner thoughts with their hearts wide-open. The two collaborated with Morgane Stapleton (“Don’t Make Her Look Dumb”) and Lori McKenna (“The Other Side”). “These eight songs are the start of a new chapter for us,” shared Maddie & Tae. “We couldn’t be more excited for them to be out in the world!” The excitement can be heard in the opening song, “What It’s Like Loving You.” The catchy guitar figure leads us to the duet’s entrance of stunning vocal harmonies. With an unmistakable pop-country vibe, the song is well-written and expertly orchestrated with all the usual pop-country sounds. “Don’t Make Her Look Dumb” is a comfortably paced song with emotional lyrics, singing, and pedal steel playing. “Madness” is a solid pop song with pure country colors and influences. “Wish You the Best” features beautiful singing and perfectly executed glissandos by the duet throughout the melody. Overall, Through The Madness Vol. 1. is Maddie & Tae doing what they do best, and that is singing catchy pop-country tunes with an identifiable harmonized sound. These eight songs represent this gift, and Through The Madness Vol. 1. is worth exploring. That’s the short of it!
