Lemon Cash, Wine Tonight Review
Cory and Jeff Papineau are two Ottawa-born brothers who live by this saying, “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” The Papineau brothers also ran a neighborhood lemonade stand, and they would come home each day to celebrate their hard-earned “lemon cash.” These two-events inspired them to name their band Lemon Cash. Along with their sister, they grew up in a very musical family, and the three siblings wrote and recorded a jingle for their answering machine on their home phone line: “We can’t take your phone call, we’re busy through and through, but leave your name and number, and we’ll get right back to you!” sung in A cappella with three-part harmonies. As the boys made their transition into adults, music was their therapy. It was the wisdom from songs and artists that gave them the strength to deal with situations. Music was also the lemonade that they used to make their mother happy. The boys realized the magic and power of music and how much of an impact it has on people. Cory and Jeff continued to steer that magic into forming the band, Lemon Cash. Starting out as a cover band in their hometown of Ottawa, Ontario, they have had much success playing a lot of gigs, receiving radio traction, and formed quite a substantial following for only a couple of years of playing together. After 3 years of playing as a five-piece band, Lemon Cash’s members decided to part on good terms and ended their days as a rock band. From an early age, the siblings listened to a wide range of Country music artists such as Patsy Cline, George Jones, George Strait, Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, and Garth Brooks. These country legends became the inspiration for the brothers beginning to write and perform their own songs with their signature blend of harmonies and a tinge of their love of rock music thrown into the lemonade of Lemon Cash. Lemon Cash is now releasing their single titled “Wine Tonight.”
Bottom Line: “Wine Tonight” is the first single from the forthcoming album. The song was written by Jeff and Cory Papineau and Jeff Dalziel (who also produced the single). With singing pedal steel melodies, the two sing the catchy tune to an upbeat, hook-driven pop-country feel that will go perfectly with your drink of choice. The two switch off singing the verse, giving the song a nice variety and flow. The chorus has rich vocal harmonies and doubling. Obviously, sibling harmonies are always superb in their ability to blend. The last chorus has impressive vocal fills by the two brothers, and the band is excellent. Lemon Cash is busy recording in the studio with producers such as Doug Oliver (Cold Creek County), Chris McComb (River Town Saints) and will be releasing their first full-length album in 2021. Overall, the solid sounds and the new country direction for Lemon Cash has an outstanding country flavor, so drink it in. That’s the short of it!Connect with Lemon Cash: Website |
