Michael Peter Olsen, Falling Forward

Michael Peter Olsen

Olsen sates, “‘Falling Forward’ is about being disconnected from what is safe and familiar and the grief of that loss of connection. Implicit is the admission that though the fall is uncontrolled, and the future is unknown, it is still progression, leading to what is next. Pining for what just was, while somewhat blindly moving ahead without knowing what is coming. The video was inspired by the Taoist interpretation of water, a visual metaphor on change and fluidity. In Taoist thought, water is a symbol of flexibility, of virtue, of creating new paths – much like many of the new paths that we are forging now in recent events.”

Michael-Peter-OlsenMichael Peter Olsen is a Toronto-based cellist, engineer, producer, film composer and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter. He has recorded and performed on over 100 recordings including Drake VIEWS, Arcade Fire Funeral, K-OS Joyful Rebellion, Jim Guthrie Now More than Ever and The Hidden Cameras The Smell of Our Own.
