Tablefox, Keep Them Guessing Review
Tablefox is a New Zealand Alt-rock band that has been building massive momentum over the past few years, beginning with their successful head-turning album You And I Will Find A Way. Gaining support from Australian Musician, The Music & The AU Review on the back of an Australian tour. In 2018 the band released Under a Broken Smile and supported BIG COUNTRY, CITY CALM DOWN, THE FEELERS, THE CHARLATANS, and UK legends JAMES. In 2021 the band released their 3rd album, Battles. The band’s singles have collectively spent the last 1.5 years in the top 20 of the NZ Rock Chart. Their fan base is ever-growing, and after playing shows with the likes of James, The Charlatans, City Calm Down, and The Feelers, Tablefox has gained a reputation for their strong live performance skills. They are now returning with the 7th and final single from Battles called “Keep Them Guessing.”
Battles was recorded by Scott Seabright Productions and mastered by Ryan Smith (AC/DC, Greta Van Fleet) at Sterling Sound. “Keep Them Guessing” is filled with alt-rock swagger supported by a throaty bassline, textured guitars, and the strong vocals of Clinton Bell. The song form twists and builds into an emotive statement. Bell had this to say on the meaning of the track “Keep them guessing is a song about the different emotional masks we wear every day. We use these masks to gain affection, sympathy, notoriety, or infamy, to name a few. Everyone uses these for good and bad reasons.” Tablefox continues to release thoughtful, well-written, and expertly performed music. That’s the short of it!
