Rob Drabkin, Let Out The Love Review
Rob Drabkin is a singer, guitarist, and songwriter expressing his love of music through catchy melodies and well-written lyrics. At one time, Drabkin was studying to become a doctor, but after a trip to New York City, he quickly changed his focus to building his music career. That focus had paid-off when Drabkin became the #1 Shazam’d artist in Greece following the placement of his song “It’s a Beautiful Day” in a nation-wide commercial. “It’s a Beautiful Day” was also featured on Perez Hilton, Sirius XM, and Spotify’s New Music Friday. Drabkin’s live performances have been experienced in Rwanda and Uganda, where he played crowds up to 26,000 in the iKnow Concert Series and Tour Du Rwanda. In the United States, Drabkin consistently sells out his headlining performances and has toured with artists such as The Head and The Heart, Michael Franti, Trevor Hall, Big Head Todd, and G-Love and Special Sauce. Drabkin explains his musical vision, “We too often forget that love is ever-present. We share it with each other through laughter, smiles, and sympathy. We can find it in everything, and we can also create it in the smallest, most unassuming moments of our lives. All we can do is keep being kind and have the courage to choose love in every decision we make.” The Denver-based indie-folk artist is now releasing the second single from his second album due in March; the song is called “Let Out The Love.”
Bottom Line: “Let Out The Love” is accompanied by another outstanding video from director Dillon Novak and produced by Shep Goodman and Aaron Accetta (American Authors, Rob Thomas), in which Drabkin pays homage to the great American painter, art instructor, and television host Bob Ross. The official lyric video for “Let Out The Love” shows Drabkin singing and performing as he is painting in Ross’ style. Drabkin says this about the song “(this is) my tribute to a man who helped fill the world with joy and vulnerability, one painting at a time.” The lyrics are positive, and the upbeat acoustic instrumentation builds a solid organic envelope for Drabkin’s soft vocal style. This is the second video Drabkin has released paying homage to Ross, commonly recognized as host and creator of the PBS TV series The Joy of Painting. The pop styled indie-folk vibe fits the video to a tee. Drabkin did a lot of the painting along with help from painting and artistic director Justin Wozniak. Drabkin explains the inspiration of the song, “The message of the song is simple – choose love and share the love. When I sing about love in this song, I am referring to courage, kindness, empathy, and respect. This polarized moment in the pandemic has shaped us in so many ways, but it has also taught us to stand up for what is right and decent. I hope this song inspires us to choose love over fear every single time.” The lyrics were written by Drabkin, Shep Goodman, and Aaron Accetta. The song structure is solid, and the singing and melodies will undoubtedly catch your ears. That’s the short of it!Connect with Rob Drabkin: Website |
