Noah Vonne, Wreck Me Review

Noah Vonne is a Nashville singer-songwriter that is combining well-structured songwriting with influences of soul, blues, folk, pop, and a myriad of other musical influences. Originally from New Braunfels, TX, Vonne began making a name for herself in the Austin and San Antonio music scenes. After moving to Nashville, TN, Vonne released her 2017 debut EP Poor in Peace. The Nashville Scene described the EP’s sound as “soul and R&B hewing. reminiscent of Amy Winehouse.” 2018 found Vonne embarking on a musical tour as the lead singer of a group that performed three daily shows on Celebrity Cruise Line’s newest ship, The Edge, as it traveled around the world. Upon her return to the United States, Vonne immediately began touring and writing for her debut full-length record, due out in 2020. She is now releasing “Wreck Me.”

 Positives: A sensuously moody listen that is filled with angst-driven soulfulness.

 Bottom Line: “Wreck Me” is the final single from Vonne’s forthcoming EP, Love Move. The song focuses on the feeling of being “wrecked” in a relationship but addicted to that feeling at the same time.” The lyrics paint a picture of someone still craving them and the relationship because you are in too deep. Set to a sparse ballad vibe, Vonne’s soulful singing dances around a relaxed backbeat that is built throughout the form. Various instruments and layers swirl around Vonne’s vocal lines. The result is a song that has a sense of development and a aural shape. “Wreck Me,” offers a hypnotic beat with a darkened attitude that entices the listener to hang on every word. Vonne delivers the lyrical storyline with a dreamscape that drones with a refrain that invites the antagonist figure in the song to slowly wreck her with a commanding sensuality. Vonne’s voice is convincing and enticing. “Wreck Me,” is filled with a driving sensuality that offers a building intensity until the songs lingered fade. That’s the short of it!
