L.A.-based singer/songwriter Kerry Hart has been quickly winning hearts with her deeply toned voice and poignant lyrical style. Hart began her career working in philanthropy and startups for over a decade, she learned to play guitar and at one point wrote a song a week for a whole year—all while undoing her college training as an opera singer and uncovering her distinct vocal style. Hart’s is joined on her first single “I Know A Gun,” by longtime bandmates Nick Rosen and Léo Costa.

The beauty resides in the simplicity of the instrumentation; the delicacy of the brushed drums and the woodiness of acoustic guitar compliment the sweeping melody of “I Know A Gun.” Hart’s ability to get to the emotional core of the tune is cornerstone to her luminous style. On the song, Kerry explains, "The gun is no gun at all, it’s the other, the equal that is suddenly luminously before you--it represents recognizing yourself, your vastness, in another person. Meeting this one, this "gun," alters the trajectory of your life. What happens next? I was lovestruck, and this song had to be written.” That's the short of it!
