PLASTY, Pyro Review
PLASTY is a Los Angeles based Neo-disco duo comprised of keyboardist/producer Adrian Hibbs (panic at the Disco) and vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Chloe Demetria, (cee-lo, bow wow wow, yo gotti). Together the duet creates a high energy sound that has elements of 70’s and 80’s funk, pop, and house. Demetria’s synergistic live vocal loops float over Hibbs’ multi-layered synths. PLASTY’s sound captures the dance energy while embodying the irreverent exhibitionism and mystique of studio 54 era disco. Their upcoming release is a collaborative effort with pop songwriting giant Justin Tranter. Hibbs is a multitalented keyboard player and arranger that combines the styles of R&B, blues, electro-funk, and saturated soul. He’s worked with artists such as Jussie Smollett, Wanya Morris (Boys II Men), MTV Awards Asia, Summer Sonic Fest Tokyo, Voodoo Fest, Last Call with Carson Daily, Rove Live Aus, Intergalactix, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Tim Lefebvre, and Panic! at the Disco. Demetria has been heard on music for radio, television, and advertisements. Her robust, soulful voice has been featured while performing and touring internationally. Also, Demetria can be heard with the progressive rock outlet ‘Vigilant’ and the Nostalgic 80’s Tribal punk band ‘BowWowWow,’ formed by Malcom Mclaren (Sex Pistols and Adam Ant.). PLASTY is now releasing their single titled “Pyro,” which is an energetic Neo-Disco odyssey with electro-pop overtones.
Positives: Hip and poppy, PLASTY has a memorable sound that is high octane. “Pyro” is on fire and brings the heat to get the body movin’. Bottom Line: PLASTY is presenting a sound that is made to get the body moving and lift the spirits. “Pyro” has a strong melodic flow conveyed by Demetria’s full charismatic vocals while the instruments support and create a deep danceable vibe. Starting with a smart vocal loop, “Pyro” develops into a full dance beat with vibrant synths and driving bass. The chorus has an impressive rhythmic structure and showcases Demetria’s fantastic vocal quality. The energy is released a bit for the bridge, leading to a break-down section and the build-up. Hibbs’ sounds are balanced and supportive of the feel and vocal melodies. PLASTY has a contagious vibe, beautiful sounds, and superb singing on this one. That’s the short of it!Connect with PLASTY: Website |
