Lights’ album Skin&Earth was created throughout a year long process, an unprecedented idea of writing and drawing her own comic book based around an alter ego of sorts and an album to coincide with the entire concept. Skin&Earth is the Canadian singer’s fourth record and her most open and vulnerable to date. Her songs speak to fighting in a relationship and sex. To aid Lights in writing about personal subjects in an honest way, she created En, which is the character in the comic book and Lights in another dimension. Skin&Earth has Lights working with some of music’s brightest including: Corin Roddick of Purity Ring, Big Data and Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots. The story of Skin&Earth is of a young woman entranced by a spirit that she and she alone must overcome. The journey of overcoming internal, emotional stress and turmoil – the internal battles to be fought which make you stronger.

Great album cover! Lights excels at electro-pop with her delightful voice and most of the tracks will keep you dancing, whether at home or in the club. The synth sounds in the songs are fuller and her singing is strong, and the lyrics are positive. The comic book is beautifully done and a good read.
