Ladysse, Kill Your Dreams For the Money Review
Ladysse is the stage name for singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Stephanie Lauren. Originally from Sacramento, her pilgrimage to Detroit led her to fulfill a long-time desire to write music with an outward cheerfulness. Her first year living in Detroit, Ladysse put herself on the map as one to watch. Sharing the stage with acts such as Flor, Banners & Agnes Obel. Ladysse also was featured in AP magazines “10 Detroit artist you need to know” list. Her debut EP Not The One proved she is a rising star on the move. Her latest single “Kill Your Dreams For The Money,” features an edginess that stings with truth.
Positives: Seductive looping lyrics that rise and fall with an acerbic riffing line with crunching electric fuzz. “Kill Your Dreams For the Money,” offers a mesmerizing listen that’s gritty and gets down to the nitty.  Bottom Line: Ladysse has combined the allure of electronic-infused drops with thrusting synths and fuzzed guitar, add to that a devilishly pleasing melody and her entrancing voice, and you have the rumble of a hit single in the air. The companion video is just as tantalizing. Ladysse lays it out, as she conveys honest, confessional lyrics, “Will I love who I become If I kill my dreams to please someone? Kill your dreams for the money, all we want is the money,” drones with an infectious beat and a scintillating sound. That’s the short of it!Connect with Ladysse: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram
