Jenny JAM, Better Than You Review
Jenny JAM (Jennifer Moxham) is a soul-pop singer, songwriter, producer, model and actress based in Los Angeles. The London born artist has a goal to make music to encourage others to always believe in themselves, even when times get tough. This sincerity in her songwriting has gained her a captivated audience across the globe. Her diverse background in musical theatre, acting and modeling, and her musical influences ranging from jazz, soul, and blues, to the classic 60’s rock bands, allows Jenny to express her music through vibrant singing talents. After a series of traumatic events, Jenny began writing as a form of release, wanting others to hear her story and learn from her experiences and mistakes. With the theme of turning negatives into positives, Jenny’s music is an uplifting experience. Jenny explains, “You can always take the positive out of the worst of experiences, as there is always a lesson – no matter how big the price to pay is.” Jenny JAM has acted in many notable films and programs alongside renowned actors and actresses. With the hope to follow a similar path with her music, the singer continues to preach the importance of always believing in yourself, with her new single “Better Than You.”
Positives: Solid songwriting, sensual singing, and well-written positive lyrics build “Better Than You.” The video is just as strong, and together Jenny makes a strong artistic statement. Bottom Line: “Better Than You” finds Jenny narrating a scene of being trapped in a controlling, abusive relationship and discovering the power to break out of the relationship. Featuring a strong, defined rhythm in the melody with lively lyrics. The bold brass and hip bassline support Jenny’s message of independence and the importance of standing up for what you want. The track is produced by Emmy award-winning Ikuma Matsuda. All of the sounds are balanced, and the song has multiple layers that build the music over the course of the form. Jenny’s vocals exclude confidence, and her timbre is warm with clear diction and articulation. The four horns give the song character and have a smart arrangement that supports and pops when needed. Solid songwriting and singing from an artist that is equally talented in front of a microphone as she is a camera. That’s the short of it!Connect with Jenny JAM: Website |
