Charlotte OC (Charlotte O’Connor) is a musician, model, songwriter, and vocalist based in the United Kingdom. Her Alt-Pop sound has earned over 280,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone, Charlotte OC is consistently pushed by BBC Introducing Lancashire. This led the Blackburn artist to perform at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in 2019, as well as supporting James Arthur and Tom Walker on their respective UK tours. Charlotte OC is the daughter of a half-Malawian, half-Indian mother and Irish father that grew up in Blackburn, Lancashire. She began playing the guitar at 15 years of age and attended weekend classes at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. At sixteen years old, she became a global ambassador for surfwear brand Quiksilver. Sam Bush signed her to a four-album recording deal with Columbia Records in late 2008, when she was 18 years old. O’Connor signed with Stranger Records in 2013, where she released her first EP, Colour My Heart, in November 2013 under the stage name Charlotte OC. The BBC classed her as “tipped for success in 2014” and Digital Spy named her “one to watch.” Her second EP, Strange, was released by Polydor Records in September 2014, which was recorded with producer Tim Anderson in Los Angeles. In March 2015, O’Connor released her third EP, Burning. Her second album, the Anderson-produced Careless People, was released on 31st March 2017. O’Connor is now releasing “Falling For You,” the third single from Charlotte OC’s Oh The Agony, Oh The Ecstasy EP, which will be released on Friday 15th May 2020.Positives: A well-written track with sensual singing and clear productions. “Falling For You” is a solid third single from Oh The Agony, Oh The Ecstasy. Bottom Line: “Falling For You” has a hip R&B pop vibe with a solid bassline, palm-muted guitar part, and balanced drums. Charlotte OC’s vocal style is pop with a relaxed sensual rhythmic deliver and vocal timbre. The song form builds interest with different feels, riffs, and vocal harmonies. Charlotte OC says, “I’m very good at making every song I write very sad. I literally cannot help or stop myself. Since being a child, I’ve always been attracted to the darker sounds and shades of life. However, when my sister gave birth to my beautiful nephew Louis, I suddenly felt a whole new feeling I’d never felt before. Not only a whole new respect for love but a love for life itself. How amazing it is to be able to have a brand new member of the family that has little pieces of all the people you love and also to acquire an instant need to protect and love this human within a millisecond of meeting them. My mind had been well and truly blown, and my heart had been stolen without me knowing. This song is about falling in love. This song is for my little Louis.” O’Connor wrote the lyrics with the music composed by O’Connor, Fred Abbott, and Martin Craft. “Falling for You” invokes a 70s aesthetic of unaffected vocals paired with excellent songwriting and a poppy danceable beat. Not overly processed, allowing the vocals to breathe and emote in a natural state. A welcomed comeback in the pop genre. That’s the short of it!
