CeCe Gable, Once Again It’s Winter Review
CeCe Gable is just what the doctor ordered for Winter Solstice. As the weather turns bitterly cold with icy rain and sleet making a muddy mess, Gable has concocted a warming sound that enlivens the season. Looking for something beyond “Winter Wonderland” for your holiday playlist, “Once Again It’s Winter” is just the right selection. “Once Again It’s Winter” is a collaboration of two friends. Gable explains: “Corky Bennett, pianist/jazz accordionist, composer, and arranger, called to say he needed lyrics to his music titled “Once Again It’s Winter,” are derived from Gable’s time living in Vermont. Like the classic “Moonlight in Vermont,” Gable drew from the winter wonderland to bring a new vision of snow and firesides with a bossa nova feel. There is nothing more romantic and soothing than a bossa nova, and this winter single is spot on.
Bottom Line: Gable’s voice floats atop like a warming tonic. Joined by tender Akio Sasajima on guitar, the indelible Harvie S on bass, and the rhythmically endowed Andrew Heglund on drums and percussion, “Once Again It’s Winter” will cast your cares of 2020 away and set the mood for the impending holiday and the cooling season. Gable has an inviting timbre to her voice, and it harkens you to stay, to linger, to enjoy each note that drops from her lips like darkened honey, dark, yet with a sweetness that is meant to be savored. Her accompanying compadres support in all the right way, like a glove that fits snuggly but with all the right warmth to shake off the shiver. A must add to your playlist. You will find yourself going back for more. Gable has put together a fantastic video accompaniment that deepens the experience. Drink in the opulence, as “Once Again It’s Winter.” That’s the short of it!Connect with CeCe Gable: Website |
