Believing in herself was the first step in the self-evidencing journey of Michaela Anne. Growing up on the move as a military kid, it was the ever-endless changing landscape of her youth that blossomed her writing style. Anne explains, “I grew up constantly on the move as a military kid,” who called Washington, California, Virginia, Michigan, and Italy home at various points during her childhood. “I’ve never felt particularly rooted in any community, and I think that led me to become a very searching, questioning person. Writing music was always my way of dealing with having more questions than answers.” Anne’s discography includes; Ease My Mind (2014, Georgia June), Bright Lights and the Fame (2016, Kingswood) and her junior release Desert Dove (2019, Yep Roc). While this album is firmly rooted in the classic country she’s come to be known for, this album represents a sonic shift that lends itself to a rockish influence with honky tonk threshing.

Unmistakably rooted in a rootsy country sound, more so than the popish country Nashville formula, Anne has an unmistakable knack for writing pithy lyrics and memorable melodies.
