Lindley Creek, The Mockingbird’s Voice Review
Lindley Creek is a family quartet based on the musical sounds of the Ozark Hills’ bluegrass and gospel tradition. The singing and playing are strong as the family creates a unique and personal resonance of acoustic music based on tradition and moving the genre forward. The Greer family is Katie on lead vocals, harmony, and mandolin; Jase on fiddle, chin cello, and lead and harmony vocals, Kathie on guitar and lead and harmony vocals; and John Rob on bass and vocals. Lindley Creek is a full-time touring band from Missouri that travels across the U.S. and Canada. Lindley Creek’s album Freedom, Love, and the Open Road will release on August 7, 2020. The band is now releasing their first single from the album titled “The Mockingbird’s Voice.”
Positives:Buzzing vocal harmonies and a blend of old and new bluegrass and gospel puts an excellent sound in the air.  Bottom Line: “The Mockingbird’s Voice” is a sultry song that emphasizes the age-old truth that things aren’t always as they seem. This haunting ballad showcases Katie singing the lead with the rest of the family supporting her and singing background harmonies. With a beautiful melody and lyrics, the mandolin and guitar fill out the sound over the acoustic bass’s steady beat. Jase’s fiddle fills are supportive and add to the music. Katie’s lead voice is warm as her diction and delivery pull you in to follow the storyline. The family vocal harmonies are excellent, and Jase’s fiddle solo is robust and fits the mood perfectly. With that distinctive family sound, Lindley Creek sets the stage for much anticipation for their August release of Freedom, Love, and the Open Road with their beautiful first single, “The Mockingbird’s Voice.” That’s the short of it!Connect with Lindley Creek: Website |
