Jon Pardi, Mr. Saturday Night Review
Mr. Saturday Night is Multi-Platinum hitmaker Jon Pardi’s anticipated fourth studio album. The 14-song collection features his chart-climbing single “Last Night Lonely,” latest release “Fill ‘Er Up,” and 12 additional new tracks. The California-born honky-tonker has hit the Top 15 on country radio with his single “Last Night Lonely” while tallying more than 55 Million global streams.
Mr. Saturday Night is produced by Bart Butler, Ryan Gore, and Pardi, the same team behind his critically acclaimed third studio release Heartache Medication. “A lot of time was spent living with the songs on this record,” shares Pardi. “There is more life experience on Mr. Saturday Night than any album I’ve released before. I chose ‘Mr. Saturday Night’ as the title track because it’s special to me. I’ve been hanging onto it for three years and can’t wait for people to hear it and the rest of these songs.”
The title track is the first song that begins our music journey, Mr. Saturday Night. Pardi has a distinct country timbre as he has elements of traditional country and modern country. The acoustic instruments are superbly recorded, and the mix and mastering are excellent. The electric guitar adds energy and a modern touch.
“Fill ‘Er Up” is an obligatory drinking song on the album set to a fun country shuffle feel. The lyrics, melody, and song form all have party sing-along potential. But, again, the band sounds wonderful, and the recording is warm and clear. “New Place To Drink” is another drinking song that will also find its place around the quarter table.
“Neon Light Speed” has beautiful violin and Pardi singing in a warm ballad style. The songwriting is well-written as the music builds with layers and variations. Pardi also makes the melody with his substantial full vocal range.
Mr. Saturday Night is a country album that ticks all the right boxes. It has catchy melodies, drinking songs, party songs, emotional songs, an excellent band, and a distinctive country singer. That’s the short of it!
