Gabby Barrett, The Good Ones Review
Gabby Barrett is a vocalist that grabbed national attention when she was a finalist on Season 16 of American Idol. Barrett developed her vocal chops at an early age while singing in her local gospel choir in Homestead, Pennsylvania and started performing on stage at age eleven. Barrett signed to Warner Music Nashville in 2019 and is currently working on her full-length debut album, which is produced by Grammy-nominated producer Ross Copperman. She has written with some of Nashville’s elite songwriters, including Josh Osborne, Josh Kear, David Garcia, Jon Nite and Zachary Kale, among others. Recently making her first return performance on Idol for the national TV debut of the track, “I Hope” has claimed the #1 spot on SiriusXM’s “The Highway” Hot 30 Countdown and on Radio Disney’s Country Top 50 chart. Now Barrett is releasing her next single, “The Good Ones.”
Positives: With a rich country cross-over voice, Barrett’s vocals are solid and full of emotion on “The Good Ones.” Bottom Line: Cowritten by Barrett, Emily Landis, Jim McCormick and Zachary Kale, “The Good Ones” pays tribute to Barrett’s fiancé and fellow American Idol alumni, Cade Foehner. Styled with full pop country sounds, “The Good Ones” has a memorable melody that Barrett’s timbre and vocal style excels at presenting. The result is she grabs your attention. Again, an American Idol alumnus is taking the opportunity to build a meaningful musical career based on talent and hard work. “The Good Ones” makes the wait for her full-length album that much more exciting.
